Fictional practice rules
Portfolio policy
The rules for talking about anything you practiced here, in one place. Other pages link here instead of repeating them.
Full disclaimer. Every engagement on this site is fictional. Northline Orders is the lab shop. Harbor Lane Clinic, Keel and Bin Parts, Mill City Permits, Ridge Route Field, and Lumen Desk are fictional case studies. None is a real client, and studying them is not a placement. Say "I studied this fictional engagement." Do not invent a customer, a metric, a savings figure, or a job outcome. A passing python3 test_all.py is a lab check, not a credential. This site offers no certificate and no score. It is independent teaching notes by Murari Bhartia, not a school, and not affiliated with xAI or Grok.
The rules
- The engagement is fictional. Northline and the five case-study shops are made up for practice. The names of people in them (Nia Okonkwo, Samir Qureshi, Ruth Ellison, Andre Pell, June Ibarra) are characters, not contacts.
- Say "I studied this fictional engagement." Not "I deployed," "I was placed," "I was staffed," or "I worked with the clinic." If an interviewer asks for real experience, say which parts are practice.
- Do not invent a customer or a metric. No client names, no ticket drops, no percentages, no savings, no salaries, no offers. The pages did not measure any. Labels like KB-2042 and LD-18 are names in a story, not results.
python3 test_all.pyis a lab check. 31 passes means the lab files still match the rules they lock. It is not a credential, not a deployment, and not an interview pass.- No certificate. This site does not issue one, and nothing here should be described as one.
- No score. The pages do not grade you. "Mark as complete" is saved only in your browser. The diagnostic suggests a starting page and stores nothing. The interview rubric's 3 is practice feedback, not a job credential.
How to label a practice document
Title each page "Northline practice, fictional," or name the case and add "fictional." The discovery note, field map, corpus list, constraint list, runbook, incident draft, and adoption table describe a made-up shop. If a number in them is a practice fill, say "not measured" next to it.
Lines you can use
- Built and tested a fictional order agent; 31 local checks; not a deployment.
- Studied five fictional engagements and wrote the refusals. Not a placement and not a certificate.
Lines to avoid
- "Deployed an AI agent at Harbor Lane Clinic."
- "Certified Forward Deployed Engineer."
- "Reduced tickets by 30%." (No page here measured a percentage.)
- "Passed the Grok11 assessment." (There is no assessment.)
